False public alarm at Franklin Township Schools; Oakcrest High School closed due to online threats
Franklin Township Schools activated safety protocols after a potentially threatening video was discovered on social media Thursday morning. The suspect was identified as a 10-year-old student. Another school in New Jersey was closed as police investigated threats made on social media.

Oakcrest High School was closed Thursday out of concern for the emotional and mental health of our community, not because we believe the school to be in imminent danger,” school officials said.

Meanwhile, police went to another school in the area on Wednesday because of a threat and ended up taking a 10-year-old into custody.
N.J. high school closed due to online threat
The closing is the latest in a series of online threats that have forced lockdowns, closures and evacuations at schools in New Jersey and around the nation since the start of the new school year. Some of the threats have resulted in arrests of students who allegedly posted threatening messages online.
