Fall has officially begun in Oregon but you wouldn’t know it by the weather in Portland this week. Regardless of the high temperatures, the leaves are beginning to change color, especially in counties along the Washington border.

According to AccuWeather’s fall foliage predictions, which map out recent and upcoming weather patterns across the United States, upstate New York, northern Pennsylvania, and wide swaths of the Midwest are the best places to plan your leaf peeping adventures this year.

Fall is back, and bringing with it jack-o’-lanterns, football, pumpkin spice everything and, in some parts of the country, especially vibrant foliage.

While the northern states are known for peak foliage during fall, there are places in Florida where the red maples live up to their name. From late October through mid-November, the more north you go, the more fall colors you get. Sure, it happens later in the season after other states have passed peak foliage, but it’s worth the wait.
