Mexico has picked Sundance Film Festival winner Sujo to represent the country at the 2025 Oscars in the Best International Feature category. The drama from Identifying Features directors Astrid Rondero and Fernanda Valadez premiered at Sundance this year,

The Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas has selected Astrid Rondero and Fernanda Valadez’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize-winner "Sujo" as its entry for the 2025 International Feature Oscar race.

Sujo, which won the Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema following its world premiere there earlier this year, has been selected to represent Mexico in the 2025 Oscar race for Best International Feature Film.

The submissions for the 97th Oscars in the best international feature category are coming thick and fast as countries rush to get in their entries before the Nov. 14 deadline. Kazakhstan is the latest to pick a national contender, selecting Askhat Kuchinchirekov’s coming-of-age tale Bauryna Salu.
